This training program will be an integral part of our growing maintenance team, providing stewardship for young urban forest and new bioswales in Gowanus.

Apprentices will participate in classroom learning and hands-on field training sessions, including field work with partner organizations. They will also go on field trips to learn about parks and restoration areas around NYC. Field work and class sessions will explore a range of environmental themes including Stormwater Management, Urban Forestry and Horticulture. The program will provide participants with physical skills, including gardening, infrastructure maintenance, and plant identification; social skills - including teamwork and communication; and knowledge about urban environmental issues facing Gowanus and other NYC neighborhoods.
